'It shouldn't Be..', Ex-RCB Player Points Out Pakistan's Weakness Before World Cup

Pakistan has one of the most fearsome pace attacks currently in the world, with the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah running riot against any kind of lineup. While Afridi uses seam and swing to bamboozle batters, Rauf and Shah rely on sheer speed and change-ups, creating problems for opponents to score easy runs.

In the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, Pakistani pacers have ruled the roost, picking a collective of 19 wickets between them, with Afridi, Rauf, and Shah claiming 7, 7, and 5 wickets apiece, respectively.

However, it is the spin department where Pakistan lacks aggression. Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz have failed to make an impact with the ball, which is a problem heading into the all-important ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Former India wicket-keeper batter Parthiv Patel has pinpointed Pakistan's weakness in bowling, which teams will take advantage of in the coming matches.

Answering a query from the host about the Pakistan spin duo, speaking to Cricbuzz, the former RCB player explained how other teams will face no threat from Shadab or Nawaz and look to score off them after seeing off the 3-man Pakistan pace attack.

Here's what Patel said

"It shouldn't be too much of a problem playing them [Shadab and Nawaz], so you will see different kind of approach when playing against Pakistan and not give too many wickets early on may be one wicket or two wickets. Even if they score 40-45 runs in the first 10, they would be happy knowing they could cover it up with Shadab and Nawaz."

Interestingly, since January 2021, Pakistan spinners have the third-lowest strike rate in ODIs, which is 44.50, having snared 69 wickets in 28 matches, only ahead of New Zealand and Netherlands.
