It is hard to find a bowler who is as lethal as Shaheen Afridi when he is in form with the new ball. On Wednesday, the 23-year-old was breathing fire for Pakistan in their Asia Cup tie against Bangladesh, taking place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Shaheen started off the innings with a brilliant maiden over against Mohammad Naim, who seemed clueless to tackle him after coming to open. Two overs later, the left-arm quick got his reward with the wicket of Bangladesh's current most trustworthy batter – Litton Das.

It was the fifth ball of the fifth over by Shaheen, which was pitched at the short length. There was some movement of the ball straightaway with some extra bounce, and Litton, batting on 16 off 12 balls in his first outing of the tournament, was confused about how to play it. All Litton could manage is to tickle the ball with a flat bat, and Mohammad Rizwan made no mistake while grabbing a simple catch.

Shaheen was delighted to get his first wicket of the day, while Litton began to walk to the pavilion after failing to convert his brilliant start. The Bangladeshi wicket-keeper batter hit four fours on his short stay but was undone by the quality of Shaheen, who appears to be the most dangerous fast bowler at present across formats.
