The anticipation around the Indian Premier League auctions have kept everyone awake and with just a few sleeps remaining before the significant event takes place, the excitement is surpassing beyond its limit. The IPL 2025 mega auctions a two-day event, will take place at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 24th and 25th November.
The days leading upto the event are also exciting as speculations surround which teams are favourite players will be playing for. Adding to the drama, legendary ex-Indian player and commentator, Sunil Gavaskar believes that Delhi Capitals 'will try very hard' to get Ishan Kishan in the upcoming auctions.
MI To Use RTM For Ishan Kishan?
Ishan, who has previously played for Gujarat Lions and recently played for Mumbai Indians, was not retained ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auctions. Instead, the Mumbai based IPL franchise opted for Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma.
The 26-year-old cricketer hailing from Patna, has amassed 2,325 runs for MI in the last seven years after featuring in 89 T20 games. However, despite this, the explosive wicket-keeper batter, Kishan is now likely to play for some other IPL franchise should the Hardik Pandya led Mumbai Indians opt to not use their RTM.
Ishan Kishan Will Go To DC Believes Sunil Gavaskar
Gavaskar also believes that in the fight to get Ishan Kishan on their side, Delhi might be ready to spend 15 to 20 crores especially considering his ability to change the complexion of the game with his brilliant batting.
"I feel Delhi will try very hard to get Ishan Kishan. They might be ready to pay 15 to 20 crores for Ishan Kishan because we have seen that Ishan Kishan has the ability to change the complexion of the game in T20 cricket because of the way he bats.
With Delhi not retaining Rishabh Pant, they will look for a wicketkeeper-batter as well. Punjab has possibly got the biggest purse so far when they go into the auction. So Punjab will also make a play for Ishan Kishan," he observed.
Considering the factor that Delhi Capitals need a wicket-keeper batter in their line-up there's a strong chance that they could opt for the ex-Mumbai Indians player in the upcoming IPL 2025 auctions.
