Steve Smith on the condition of Perth Test (Source:@mufaddal_vohra/X.com)
The first Test between India and Australia of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is moving away from the team team as India have made a strong comeback after getting bowled out for just 150 in the first innings. It was the bowling effort of Jasprit Bumrah and co. that brought back India in the game as they cleaned up Aussies for just 104.
India's batting group though has consolidated their strong position, and now India have a lead of over 400, which puts India in a dominant situation. The pitch has eased out a bit in the second innings, but in Perth, cracks tend to play a big role.
Steve Smith Warns Aussie Batters Of Widening Cracks
They have started to open up now, and Steve Smith after the second session, mentioned the same fact. In a short interview, the Australian star said that the cracks have started to appear in the last 45 minutes and added that it is not great signs for the team team. He also cautioned his teammates that they need to bat well to win the game.
"The cracks have started to appear in that last 45 minutes. Not a nice sign for us, but we need to bat well."
Steve Smith scored a golden duck in the first innings, and if Aussies want to chase a record target, they need the right-hander to score big runs. India though still have five wickets in hand, at the time of writing, and it doesn't look like they are in the mood of declaring.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has been the star of the show for India with the bat. He smashed a brilliant 161 and with KL Rahul, he set the platform of India's strong reply with a 201-run opening stand.
