Jasprit Bumrah is one of the best bowlers in world cricket and whichever format it is, the pacer just delivers. He is doing the same on the opening day of the first Test in Perth, as he has bagged three quick wickets to bring back India in the game. India could muster just 150 runs in the first innings, but Australia have also been reduced to 19-3 by Bumrah and it is turning out to be an interesting first day.

Bumrah first got the wicket of debutant Nathan McSweeney and then got the wicket of Usman Khawaja and Steven Smith on consecutive deliveries in the 7th over of Australia's innings. The wicket of Smith though was special and he is a key batter for Australia and sending him back for a golden duck is a big achievement. Also, the way the wicket fell, it reminded fans of the World Cup 2023 final.

Steve Smith Bags Second Golden Duck Of His Test Career

It was a good-length delivery that nipped back in sharply. Steve Smith got across the line and tried to defend it, but he missed it completely and the ball hit his pad. A big appeal followed and the umpire raised the finger in a flash. It looked dead plumb and Steve Smith also knew it as he walked off the field in disappointment. It was only the second golden duck for Steve Smith in Test cricket and the previous one came against South Africa in 2014.

In the World Cup 2023 final too, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Steve Smith in the same way and in the game too, his wicket gave India a glimmer of hope after a low total in the first innings. In this game too, India have a low score in the first innings and they would now be hoping that the wicket of Steve Smith opens up floodgates and keep Australia in check.
