Rajasthan Royals finisher Riyan Parag silenced his critics with a sensational 45 balls 84 runs inning against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024 and got emotional recalling the hard work he put in behind the scenes prior to the tournament commencement.

Riyan Parag fought a shoulder niggle diligently to regain fitness in time for IPL 2024 season. He kicked off the new edition with a lot of pressure and criticism, given his lackluster performance in the previous couple of seasons.

However, with a clarity of role, Parag rose through the ashes to leave a significant mark for Rajasthan Royals. The finisher followed up his 29-ball 43 runs inning vs. LSG with a match-defining 45 balls and 84 runs knock against DC earlier today. 

With RR's chips down, Riyan Parag smashed 25 runs off Anrich Nortje's final over to guide RR to a formidable total of 185 runs.

While expressing his euphoria after a sensational knock, Riyan Parag got a little emotional. He revealed going through a lot of hard work behind the scenes and the current knock is nothing but a reward of his relentless practice. 

"It's the fruit of a lot of practice. There's a lot of work that has gone behind-the-scenes. Happy with my performance," Parag said.

Furthermore Parag added that he had planned his shots in advance to take on lethal pacers like Nortje. The message from the management was to take the game deep and he backed himself to finish the job just fine. 

"I always have my options (shots) ready required for both sides of the wicket. I just back myself. The goal was to take the innings deep, as per instructions by Kumar Sangakkara and Sanju Samson," he added.

Parag concluded by saying how witnessing the results of the honest hard work got him a little emotional.

"I'm a little emotional. I'm witnessing the result of my hard-work," Parag concluded.

Given Riyan Parag's classic finish, RR is back in the contest in an entertaining clash against DC.
