In what turned out to be a historic and extraordinary T20 game of cricket, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 31 runs in one of the highest ever scoring games in IPL and SRH skipper Pat Cummins was overjoyed with his team’s exceptional efforts.

SRH batted first versus MI, but little did anybody guess that Pat Cummins’ comrades would go on to script the highest-ever IPL team total. Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Klaasen’s notable contributions guided SRH to a total of 277 runs.

While MI started well, and Tilak Verma’s valiant 50 kept them in the hunt, the target was just way too big to have been chased.

That being said, SRH skipper Pat Cummins, who pulled things back for his team with a commendable 8.80 economy spell, revealed SRH never intended to go this big in the first innings.

But of course the wicket was good and the batter capitalised accordingly. However, Cummins also admitted getting nervous during the chase as MI knocked over boundaries as and when they pleased. But overall, he was relieved to have finished on the winning side.

"That was insane. It's one of those games. It felt like they were finding boundaries whenever they wanted. It was good to finish on the winning side," said Cummins.

Pat Cummins also lauded Abhishek Sharma’s fearless hitting.

"In IPL, we have played in front of big crowds and to see him (Abhishek Sharma) play with freedom was good to watch. You never play for 270. We wanted to play positively with the impact player and score aggressively," he added.

Cummins mentioned how Hyderabad's wicket was a belter for batters, and the bowlers had to make peace with the carnage. But he figured the cutters would help and executed them to perfection in the penultimate over of the chase.

"It's obviously a good wicket. You have to suck up that you will go for some boundaries. The cutters helped in the last phase. First home game here. The crowd was very loud and it was amazing," Cummins concluded.

Lastly, the SRH skipper acknowledged the crowd’s support in the first home game of the season and called the experience surreal.
