Babar Azam, one of the finest batters Pakistan have ever had in their history, will captain Pakistan again in the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA.

The 29-year-old, who has been re-appointed to the leadership duties in white-ball cricket following Shaheen Afridi's sacking, will be the main man for the Men in Green again in the forthcoming showpiece event, to be played in June.

As Pakistan is set to play Ireland soon, a former cricketer from their country Basit Ali gave Babar an 'open challenge'. The 53-year-old, on his YouTube channel, said he will shut down his account if Babar manages to smash three sixes on the trot in the T20 World Cup 2024.

However, at the same time, Basit specifically mentioned that those sixes should be against major full-time nations, not against random countries that have come to the competition via qualifiers.

"If Babar Azam hits three straight sixes against top teams, not against the likes of the USA or Ireland, but against top teams, I will shut down my YouTube channel. If he accepts this challenge, he should say that he accepts it. And if he can't hit those sixes in the World Cup, then he shouldn't open the batting," said Basit Ali.

The three-match T20I series between Ireland and Pakistan will get underway on May 10. All three fixtures will take place at Clontarf Cricket Club Ground, Dublin.
