The ever-growing popularity of MS Dhoni soared past new heights after reports emerged that the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) season might well be his last appearance in competitive cricket. The legendary wicketkeeper-batter had already relinquished his captain a couple of days prior to the launch of the tournament in favour of rising star Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Over the years, Dhoni has been an integral member from the cricketing community in modern pop-culture. A number of brand endorsements aside, the cricketer was also the primary subject of 2016’s biographical sports drama film ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story.’

As of now, it appears that Dhoni might well have an indirect connection to Baahubali, India’s popular multi-media franchise.

Baahubali producer hints MS Dhoni connection

Baahubali film series director and cricket enthusiast, S. S. Rajamouli, recently attended an event in Hyderabad to promote his upcoming animated venture ‘Baahubali: Crown of Blood.’

As per early poster reveals, several fans of the franchise have spotted similarities between the character design of series protagonist Amarendra Baahubali and former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni.

When asked if the similarity was intentional, Rajamouli responded:“Probably character creators are also his fans like me.”

MS Dhoni, meanwhile, is currently plying his trade for the CSK franchise in IPL 2024. The cricketer has already bashed 110 runs this season at a staggering strike-rate of nearly 225.

He will now be seen reprising his role for the CSK franchise in their upcoming IPL 2024 challenge against cellar-dwellers Gujarat Titans. The match will be hosted by the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 10.
