Mohammed Shami’s daughter, Aaira Shami, has found herself at the center of controversy after a photo of her celebrating Holi was shared by her mother, Hasin Jahan, on March 14. The image, which shows Aaira covered in vibrant Holi colors, quickly went viral on social media but also sparked severe backlash from religious extremists.
Mohammed Shami’s Daughter Criticised For Playing Holi
Despite Holi being a widely celebrated festival across India, some critics have slammed Hasin Jahan, questioning her decision to allow her daughter to participate in the festival during the holy month of Ramadan.
The backlash was particularly loud due to the fact that Hasin Jahan and Shami belong to the Muslim community.

The situation worsened when a prominent cleric, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, President of the All India Muslim Jamaat, called the celebration 'illegal' and 'against Shariat.'
He further commented in a video that, while a young child like Aaira may not understand the significance of the festival, if she celebrated it knowingly, it would be considered against Islamic law.
"She is a small girl … If she plays Holi without understanding (it), then it is not a crime." "If she is sensible and still plays Holi, then it will be considered against Shariat," he added. (NDTV Sports)
This incident follows a similar attack on Mohammed Shami earlier this month when he was criticized by Islamists for drinking an energy drink during Champions Trophy match against Australia.
