The wait is almost over as Cricket's biggest carnival, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is just around the corner with the fans gearing up for yet another exciting season. Once again, ten teams will fight it out as more than 70 matches will be contested in the upcoming season starting on March 22.
The focus will on the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as they dominated the proceedings last season and will be the team to beat once again. The team has plethora of stars and a new captain to take over the mettle. However, even in his twilight, KKR's biggest match-winner is still Andre Russell.
Russell shows his brute power
The West Indian all-rounder has been a KKR legend and one of the first retentions ahead of the auction. With the new season beginning soon, the KKR all-rounder started his practice and straightaway started with big shots, for which he is known.
Every delivery connected from the sweet spot of the blade as Russell announced his intentions for the new season. He looked in ominous touch as every bowler will be fearing the KKR all-rounder.
KKR has a new skipper in town
The franchise parted ways with Shreyas Iyer ahead of the mega auction and picked up Ajinkya Rahane in the side. Many expected Venkatesh Iyer to become the leader, but the franchise shocked everyone when they announced Rahane as the captain for the upcoming season.
The Indian batter has led before in IPL, but it will be a stern test for Rahane as the expectations are high after last season's triumph.
