Indian football legend, Sunil Chhetri, holds a deep admiration for the cricketing maestro, Virat Kohli, which has fostered a strong bond between the two.

In an interview, Chhetri expressed his fondness for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team, particularly when his friend, Kohli, is in action. He admitted that he primarily tunes in to watch the games when Kohli is on the field.

"I love watching Virat Kohli. I love RCB, I watch only when Virat bats."

The 35-year-old batter recently announced his retirement from the T20I format of the game following Team India's sensational triumph at Barbados.

Virat Kohli received a lot of harsh remarks and criticism from players as his A-game was not on display during most of the tournament; however, with the faith of the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, in him, he rose at a time his team needed him the most and stood tall out in the middle during the finale vs South Africa; where he slammed his much-needed 76 off 59 balls.

After the victorious campaign in the Caribbean, Kohli took a well-deserved break before returning to the Indian team. His return was eagerly anticipated as India set its sights on Mission Sri Lanka under the new leadership of head coach Gautam Gambhir.

However, the team's performance was not as expected, with a tie in the first game and a rare loss in the first ODI against Sri Lanka in 27 years.

Meanwhile, many speculations suggested that Virat Kohli would be available for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024.

However, it has been understood that, with the forthcoming Test season, the senior players will be rested and will most likely be seen in September, when India plays against Bangladesh at home.
