On Sunday, Kolkata Knight Riders' star player Venkatesh Iyer made a striking debut, displaying his skills during the Northamptonshire vs Lancashire game of the England Domestic One-Day Cup 2024. 

His successful defense and the capture of his maiden wicket in the tournament were not just personal victories, but also a crucial contribution to his team's triumph.

Bowling the crucial 19th over, Venkatesh Iyer ensured that left-handed wicket keeper batter, Ricardo Vasconcelos was forced to walk back for 18 runs off 27 balls, including the two boundaries he smashed.

Venkatesh Iyer picked up his first wicket of the tournament with the help of a great catch by his teammate and an off-spinner and a handy middle-order-batter Chris Green.

Earlier in the game, Venkatesh Iyer scored 15 runs off 17 balls and the Lancashire innings scored on 240-9. 

In the second innings, despite strong starts from Northamptonshire batters, Prithvi Shaw, Justin Broad and Lewis McManus, the team failed to carry forward the lead and that resulted in their loss and Lancashire won by 4 runs.
