It’s often said that cricketers from Delhi have a reputation for aggression, a trait exemplified by players like Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, and Ishant Sharma over the years. A new emerging fast bowling sensation from Delhi, Harshit Rana, believes that this is what makes them special and allows them to have long careers at the top.

Harshit played a vital role in his team Kolkata Knight Riders’ success in IPL 2024. The right-arm pacer bagged 19 wickets from 11 innings at an average and economy rate of 20.15 and 9.08, respectively. He bowled the tough overs and delivered whenever his team needed him to.

His aggression on the field has also been something that has been talked about, but the young pacer revealed his stance on his approach when on the field. From giving Mayank Agarwal a send-off in Kolkata to putting a finger to his lips and doing a ‘shushing’ celebration, Harshit caught many eyeballs with his on-field antics. Speaking about the same, Harshit said:

“This tag has been given to us. Hum Dilli wale hai, emotional hai, aur dil se khelte hai (We are from Delhi, we play cricket with our heart). This Delhi’s aggression has made Virat Kohli the Virat Kohli he is. Ishant Sharma played 100 Test matches, and Rishabh Pant did that miracle at Gabba. Gautam Gambhir won two World Cup finals for India.”

Harshit will be looking to continue his golden run with the ball in the upcoming domestic competitions, using his aggressive approach in hopes of earning a place in the Indian squad in the near future.
