Bangladesh have been the perennial underachievers in international cricket. While they have played some decent cricket in bilateral series in the recent times, they've remained elusive of the World Cup trophy. They are coming in to the tournament after losing to the USA recently, it would interesting to see how they recoup from that loss.

Strengths of Bangladesh For T20 World Cup 2024

1) Experienced All-Rounders

Perhaps the one of the biggest strengths for Bangladesh is the experience that their all-rounders- Shakib Al Hasan, Mahedi Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyadh, bring to the table. Having collectively played over 300 T20I games, there is a lot of knowledge and guidance to give that they come bearing. 

A tournament as big as the T20 World Cup requires courage and individuals that can step in at big moments. Both Shakib and Mahmudullah have played over 100 T20I games each and Mahedi Hasan has player over 40 games, there experience and understanding of the game can bear fruit.

2) Variety of Bowlers

The tigers of Bangladesh have vast diversity and good shuffling options that can be used as and when they wish to. From Rishad Hossain's leg spin bowling to Mustafizur Rahman's death over heroics with cutters and slowers, they are capable enough to send world-class batters packing.

Not just this, Shoriful Islam and Taskin Ahmed's skilful new ball bowling along with Tanvir Islam's deadly left arm spin and the flexibility of Tanzim Hasan in all the phases of the game, might just be the edge that Bangladesh needs over the other teams.


Weakness of Bangladesh For T20 World Cup 2024

1) The questionable form of Shakib-Litton and Najmul

A big concern for the team is the debilitating form of batters especially Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto. The trio has failed to fire their bats and have thus departed for distasteful score.

In the last four innings, Shakib has not managed to score even one fifty plus score, on the other hand Litton Das has only managed to score one 20+ score that to against USA. Even Najmul has had a very underwhelming run with the bat in the recent matches.

2) Shakib's middle-over debacle

While Bangladesh has a variety of different bowlers, they do depend on Shakib especially in the games' most crucial phase: the middle-overs. While bowlers like Rishad Hossain try their best to keep it economical in the middle overs, Shakib's lack of form is becoming a big concern for his team.

Opportunities for Bangladesh in T20 World Cup 2024

1) Going beyond expectations

Bangladesh has been in the cricket circuit for quite a long time. Although they showed promise at the beginning they failed to live up to the expectations. Being in one of the most toughest groups this World Cup, Najmul and his army have the chance of proving their critics wrong.

1) Batting Order Collapse

It has been evidently seen in their most recent outings that the team has relied heavily on Towhid Hridoy's masterclass alone. In the upcoming ICC tournament, if Hridoy fails to fire his bat in a crucial game then there are strong chances that the team gets cooked under pressure and suffers a quick collapse.
