England batter Will Jacks, who shared a dressing room with Virat Kohli at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), recently discussed his experience working alongside the talismanic batter. Jacks revealed that spending time with Kohli taught him the art of chasing targets in T20 cricket.

Although Jacks was not RCB’s first-choice overseas player, he proved to be a valuable addition to the team. Amidst struggles in the batting lineup, with both Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green underperforming in the first half of the tournament, Jacks stepped up big time. 

He played a crucial role in RCB's qualification for the playoffs, scoring 230 runs in 8 matches at an impressive strike rate of 175.57.

Jacks credited his time with Kohli for enhancing his game. In an interview with Nasser Hussain, the Surrey-based cricketer highlighted the key lessons he learned from Kohli. 

“Firstly, his attitude towards training stood out. Every day is an opportunity to get better, and that was evident with him. Some people say it, but with him, it was obvious. His intensity in the game, giving 100% every ball, and his strategic approach to chases were enlightening. When I batted with him during a chase, I saw how he planned each move, not just going ball by ball but looking ahead to determine when to take risks,”  said Will Jacks.

One of the most memorable moments of IPL 2024 for Jacks was his 41-ball century in a match-winning partnership with Kohli against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. Jacks' explosive batting left even Kohli amazed.

Currently, Jacks is participating in the home T20I series against Pakistan. Afterward, he will head to the Caribbean for the group stage matches of the T20 World Cup 2024.
