'His Problem Is..', Ravi Shastri Reveals 'Real' Reason Behind Shaheen Afridi's Poor Outing In Perth Test

Riding on the players' incredible effort, Australia have claimed the driving seat in the ongoing first Test match against Pakistan in Perth. After bowling out the visitors for 271 in the first innings, Australia powered themselves to a strong position as Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith stood tall after a shaky start.

This Test has been a forgettable game for Shaheen Afridi, who was expected to play a key role for Pakistan on Perth's seam-friendly deck. Afridi blew hot and cold with the ball, scalping a single wicket for 96 runs during Australia's first innings.

Meanwhile, former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has explained the primary reason behind Afridi's underperformance with the ball.

While commentating, Shastri stated how the pressure of being the lone warrior has impacted the speedster's performance in this game.

"I think Shaheen Afridi's real problem is the pressure of being the spearhead of this Pakistan attack. Without much real support at the other end, when it comes to pace. When you talk of Pakistan and their fast-bowling attack, there is genuine pace all the time. And you don't have one bowler here who is even close to 140. So that puts immense pressure even on someone like Shaheen," Shastri said.

Shastri's assessment doesn't seem convincing, as young pacers Khurram Shahzad and Aamer Jamal have hit the right areas more consistently than him. At stumps on day 3, Australia are 84 for two in their second innings, leading Pakistan by 300 runs.
