The iconic Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg will host the opening One-Day International of the series between hosts South Africa and India on Sunday (December 17).
The Men in Blue will take on their Proteas counterparts for an initial edge in the three-match rubber, which is both the nation's first ODI assignment of the new four-year cycle leading into the 2027 World Cup in South Africa.
The two countries have rested multiple key players for the challenge, prioritising their forthcoming T20I and Test ambitions while allowing young faces to showcase their true mettle and press home respective cases for long-term selection.
For the outside world, the ODI series might seem surplus to the needs of the tour. Still, it presents an excellent opportunity for aspiring youngsters and a couple of comeback men in the Indian camp to rise from the ashes and stake claim to a regular spot in the line-up.
