Iconic cricketer Rohit Sharma led his troops remarkably in the 2023 World Cup, as India finished as the runners-up in the marquee event. Before losing to Australia in the all-important final, India won ten matches on the trot, including a tense semifinal in Mumbai against their perennial nemesis, New Zealand. 

Meanwhile, veteran Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty has heaped praises on the talismanic batter for his incredible contributions towards Indian cricket. Speaking in a podcast with ANI, Shetty hailed Rohit for his selfless batting approach throughout the World Cup. 

Shetty, Indian cricketer KL Rahul's father-in-law, didn't hesitate to keep the Mumbai great in the same bracket as the legendary MS Dhoni in leadership.

"Rohit today is probably where Dhoni stands, because everything that he did was for the team. It's easy to say that he should have stuck on and played for his hundred, with lakhs of people cheering for him. But he decided to give the team an 80-90 run start so they could take off. So, all of them, whether it's Rohit, Shubman, Virat, Shami, Kuldeep or Jadeja; you can't ask for a better team."

Regarding Rohit, the stylish batter was recently replaced by Hardik Pandya as Mumbai Indians' captain for the IPL 2024. He will next be seen in the two-match Test series against South Africa starting on December 26.
