Sanju Samson who was a part of the Asia Cup squad was released as he was a a standby player for KL Rahul, who was not fit for the first two games of the Asia Cup 2023. When KL Rahul Joined the team, Sanju Samson was released from the squad.

A couple of days back, Samson uploaded a few pictures of him playing Golf with his friends in Dubai. He is currently in Dubai, where he is spending time with his friends and training alongside them.

The right-handed batter has also missed out on the World Cup squad as BCCI announced a 15-man squad which consists of two wicket-keeper batters, KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan. But the former Indian cricketer, Sanjay Manjrekar believes that Sanju will eventually be called in the squad for the World Cup 2023.

Here's what Sanjay Manjrekar said about the inclusion of Samson in the squad:

'Sanju Samson will be there in the periphery. But looking at how things have gone, if you're looking for a batter to replace Shreyas Iyer.'

Manjrekar believes that India might have to find a replacement for Shreyas Iyer who missed the Super 4s game against Pakistan. He came back from injury directly to the Asia Cup but after the first two games, he had to sit out of the Pakistan game due to a back spasm.

Manjrekar added that this concern shifts our focus back to Sanju Samson who was selected as a middle-order batter. Considering the guys coming from injuries including KL Rahul, Sanju Samson will be selected if a replacement is needed as he will be the next best wicket-keeper choice for India.
