Pakistan came after the break with all guns blazing on Thursday (September 14) in the do-or-die Asia Cup contest against Sri Lanka, taking place at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The Men in Green, who started off at 130/5, quickly advanced to 184/5 in 35 overs thanks to a scintillating batting display from Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Rizwan.

Pakistan batted for 27.4 overs before the game was stopped due to the constant rain, and it was later changed to a 42-overs-per-side format.

The way that Rizwan changed his approach after the break was the high point of Pakistan's innings. Above them, his six against Pramod Madushan, the player who had earlier bowled a vicious inswinger that floored Fakhar Zaman, was magnificently brilliant.

It was a regular back-of-a-length delivery by Pramod which was pitched just outside the off stump. Rizwan flawlessly lofted it over deep mid-wicket as if he had been anticipating the ball. In fact, the Pakistan wicketkeeper did not even look at where the ball was going before it easily sailed past the deep mid-wicket.

At the time of writing, Pakistan are going strong, batting on 221/5 in 39 overs. Rizwan is batting flamboyantly on 65-ball 73, while Iftikhar is on 34-ball 35.
