'He is the Vice-Captain... Don't Know Anything About This Team': Aakash Chopra on Shakib Al Hasan

Aakash Chopra believes that Shakib Al Hasan will aim to make a more significant impact with the bat in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 match against Pakistan, as compared to his previous performances in the tournament.

Bangladesh is set to face Pakistan in the first Super Four game in Lahore on Wednesday, September 6. In their tournament opener against Sri Lanka, Shakib was dismissed for just five runs, but in the last game against Afghanistan, he played a crucial role by scoring an unbeaten 32 off 18 deliveries.

While analyzing the Bangladesh-Pakistan clash in a video on his YouTube channel, Chopra expressed that Bangladesh would ideally want Litton Das to be fit and for Shakib to deliver a strong batting performance.

Here's what he said

"There was news that Litton Das would be available for the match. Then their board president said no one told him, that he doesn't know and he doesn't think he is going. There are issues in their top order and that is why Mehidy Hasan Miraz was made to open. So it will be a great thing if they get Litton Das.

"He is the vice-captain of the team but we don't know anything about this team, whether he will be there or not, we have got no idea. Shakib Al Hasan hasn't yet arrived in the Asia Cup as a batter. So you expect all of that to actually change."

Initially, Litton Das was sidelined from the Asia Cup due to viral fever, but he has now rejoined the squad just before the Super Four stage. Bangladesh is keeping their fingers crossed that he is both healthy and ready to play in the match. This is particularly crucial since Najmul Hossain Shanto, who has been performing well, is out of the tournament due to a hamstring injury.
