Mitchell Starc hailed the impact of captain Pat Cummins in Australia's World Cup 2023 victory. Despite losing the first two group stage matches, Australian side was led from the front by Cummins as the Aussies won every single game and won the finale against firm-favourites, India.

Chasing 241, Australia started on an aggressive note, but lost the plot when India churned out three quick wickets. This is when Travis Head stood up and alongside Marnus Labuschagne steered Australia to their sixth World Cup title.

The dashing southpaw slammed a magnificent ton in the finals and was eventually dismissed for a 120-ball 137. The Aussie opener also bagged the coveted Player of the Match award.

Starc hails Cummins

Speaking to the official broadcaster after the Aussie victory, lead pacer Starc hailed the impact of Cummins as a leader and how he led the team from the front.

"Pat has been phenomenal for us and he took the right decisions for us and led from the front. He has been amazing. It has been a great month and a half for us and we have had a great time winning WTC final and now this. A great winter for us and credit to the support stuff and Pat for their efforts in winning us the game," Starc said.

This win marks Australia's sixth title in 50-over World Cups, having previously won in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015.
