Just when everything was going according to the plan for India, Mitchell Starc decided to silence the Indian crowd as he got the big wicket of Shubman Gill in the finals of the World Cup 2023.

Opting to bowl first on a dry surface, Australia needed an early breakthrough to push India on the back foot. However, things didn't entirely go according to the Aussie plan as Rohit Sharma took the attack to the opposition and had a special liking for Josh Hazlewood.

However, as India were marching towards yet another solid start, it was the man for the big moments, Mitch Starc who drew the first blood in the form of Gill. He bowled a slightly short delivery, which didn't bounce as high as Gill expected. 

The Indian batter went for an attempted pull shot, but got it from the toe-end of the bat and found Adam Zampa at mid-on, who had an easy catch to take. The entire 1.3 lakh Ahmedabad crowd went silent as they expected Gill to have yet another big game in the finals of the World Cup.

Gill looked disappointed after playing a rash shot, and so did Rohit, as he gave a look to his younger opening partner.

Talking about the match, Virat Kohli has joined skipper Rohit at the crease. The Indian skipper is going all guns blazing against the Aussie attack, and has looked in complete control of his innings.
