Travis Head broke billions of Indian fans’ hearts on Sunday (November 19) during Australia’s World Cup 2023 final against the Men in Blue at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The southpaw, against all odds, scored a scintillating 120-ball 137, laced with 15 fours and four sixes, before holing out to Shubman Gill.
However, by then, his job was done, as Australia, set for 241, required two more runs when he returned to the pavilion.
Despite Head’s heroic knock which stunned India in the summit clash, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul did not miss out on congratulating the Australian opener. While Kohli kept clapping from near the boundary line, Rahul ran to him to shake hands, creating a wonderful moment in the middle.
Nevertheless, it was an emotional moment for Kohli, who did not do anything wrong throughout the competition. Therefore, it wasn't surprising to see him almost in tears while praising Head.
On the other hand, all Australian players leapt in joy to congratulate Head, who brought sorrow in India's hearts in the previous World Test Championship (WTC) final as well.
