Bangladesh have found a rising star in fast bowler Nahid Rana, who could become a game-changer for the national team. At a time when the team was looking for someone with raw pace, Nahid stepped up and impressed everyone with his speed and aggression.

The upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, starting June 17, could play a big role in shaping Nahid’s career. This series includes two Test matches, three ODIs, and three T20Is, and will also mark the beginning of the new World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.

Nahid Rana Gives Bangladesh New Hope

Over the last few years, Bangladesh’s pace attack has improved, but the team was still missing a bowler with express pace. That’s where Nahid Rana made a difference. Recently, Bangladesh coach Phil Simmons recalled his first interaction with Nahid.

"He is our X factor, because of the pace. If he stays fit, he can unsettle any batter with his pace on any kind of wicket," he said, as quoted by BSS.

The 21-year-old pacer has already played for Bangladesh in all three formats of the game, Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. His T20I debut against the UAE wasn’t very impactful, although he did take two wickets using his speed. But he also gave away a lot of runs.

Meanwhile, when it comes to red-ball cricket, Nahid has openly expressed his love for Test cricket. Speaking to BSS, he shared:

"Test is the format which I like most out of the three formats. it's the most prestigious."

Nahid has truly made a name for himself in both Test and ODI cricket. In just 7 Test matches, the Bangladesh pacer has taken 23 wickets, maintaining an economy rate of 4.73, which shows his ability to handle the longer format with consistency. In the ODI format, he has also made an impact, picking up 5 wickets in 4 matches.

In just a short career, he has already played a key role in two Test wins for Bangladesh, showing he has the talent and mentality to become a top-level fast bowler.
