Star all-rounder Riyan Parag returned to his homeland on Monday, February 17 as Rajasthan Royals arrived in Guwahati for pre-season camp. The men in pink are going to have a 10-day camp in what will be their second home venue for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Coach Rahul Dravid alongside other coaching staff marked their attendance in the Hotel Radisson Blu in Guwahati as well. Additionally players like Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Rana, Sandeep Sharma and 13-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi also arrived in the city.
Its been two years since Rajasthan Royals made Guwahati their second home after Jaipur. They have played at least two of their seven home matches in the Northeastern city in the last two editions and set to do the same this year for the third consecutive season.
Riyan To Host His U19 India Coach For The First Time In His Home State
Riyan, being the local boy, will definitely be one of the players to watch out for the fans in Guwahati. Speaking to the Assamese media in the airport, Riyan revealed his hosting plans for Rajasthan Royals and especially for coach Dravid.
“Yes, I'm very happy to welcome Rahul sir in Guwahati. I will try to show him around the city and arrange special local foods for him,” Riyan said on Monday.
Additionally, the 23-year-old also shed light on how the team will focus on adapting and get used to the playing conditions in Guwahati which is usually not easy for any player who is playing here for the first time.
“Our main focus will be on practice and help the new players as it takes time for outsiders to come and adjust to the conditions here (Guwahati),” Riyan added.
The 2008 champions will be kicking off their campaign in an away game against last year's runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday, March 23. After that they will be heading back to Guwahati which will host two home fixtures for the Royals against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 26 and March 30, respectively.
