Gujarat Giants (GG-W) and UP Warriorz (UP-W) will be taking on each other in Match 3 of the Women's Premier League 2025 (WPL). The mouthwatering clash will take place on Sunday, February 16 at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. The action will begin at 7:30 PM IST.

Gujarat Giants

Gujarat Giants have already kicked-off their campaign and will be coming into this match on the back of a heavy defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Ashleigh Gardner and co had a terrific day with the bat but it's the inexperience in their bowling with some embarrassing display on the field which has cost them the 2 points.

Ahead of the encounter against UP Warriorz, the Gujarat Giants will be eyeing to not repeat the same mistakes and open their account with a win before it's too late.

UP Warriorz

On the other side, UP Warriorz will be playing their first game of the season on Sunday. They had a below par season last year as they finished 4th in the league stage with only three wins out of the eight games.

Looking at their squad, they have retained their major part of it from the last edition with spinners being their biggest strength as usual. The likes of Deepti Sharma, Alana King and Sophie Ecclestone will be featuring as the lead spinners.

Meanwhile, with the bat, they will be missing their captain Alyssa Healy's service with Deepti will be taking over the leadership role. Tahlia McGrath, Chamari Athapaththu and Grace Harris are some other big names in their batting line-up who will be eyeing to finally turn things around for UP Warriorz this season.

Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara - Pitch Report for Match 3

The pitch at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara is expected to be a high-scoring one with batters dominating the major part of the game. Seamers do find some initial movements but it has been a difficult venue for the spin bowlers.

Moreover, there is plenty of dew which comes into play in the later half of the match which makes bowlers’ life even harder. The team winning the toss will definitely look to bowl first as anything around 180-200 is a chasable target in this venue at this stage.

Top 3 Captain and Vice-Captain Choices for GJ-W vs UP-W

3. Tahlia McGrath

Why Will Tahlia McGrath Be A Good Choice As The Captain Or Vice-captain?

Consistent Performer: Tahlia McGrath will undoubtedly start as one of the top choices in Dream11 ahead of this game. The Aussie all-rounder is a consistent performer as she had a fantastic first season of WPL, finishing as third highest run scorer but couldn't complete the 2024 edition due to injury. Considering the conditions at the Kotambi Stadium, McGrath is expected to have a good day with the bat.

All-round Match-Winner: The star-allrounder can turn the game on its head and be an unstoppable force when she gets going. In addition, her abilities with the ball makes her a perfect Captain or Vice-captain choice in Dream11 ahead of this match.

2. Beth Mooney

Why Will Beth Mooney Be A Good Choice As The Captain Or Vice-captain?

In-Form: Beth Mooney had a fantastic start to the WPL 2025 as she scored a magnificent half-century against RCB in the first match. Aussie top-order batter batted brilliantly against the new ball and is looking like she has a lot more to offer on what looked like a perfect batting wicket in Vadodara.

Past Record: Mooney has scored 4 half-centuries on the last five WPL outings including one against UP Warriorz last year. She is definitely in a mood to not stop any soon and continue her red hot form with the bat.

1. Ashleigh Gardner

Why Will Ashleigh Gardner Be A Good Choice As The Captain Or Vice-captain?

Explosive Option: We saw Ashleigh Gardner at her explosive best as she tore apart RCB’s bowling in the season opener, scoring an unbeaten 79 off 37 which included eight sixes throughout her stay. She will be looking to continue from where she left and make Gujarat Giants take their two points in this match.

All-Round Abilities: On the back of a six-hitting show with the bat, Gardner also took two wickets with the ball which ensured her brilliant form with the ball as well. Even though the conditions are not suitable for spin bowlers, Gardner’s experience is going to play a key role with the ball.
