Hardik Pandya, after leading Gujarat Titans to successive IPL finals in their first two tournament appearances, was traded back to Mumbai Indians at the behest of the all-rounder late last month. A few days after Pandya’s official exit, the Titans management announced rising star Shubman Gill as their new captain for next year’s IPL 2024 season.

Even though the star all-rounder was an integral force behind Gujarat Titans title success in IPL 2022 and another final appearance the following season, former Australian spinner Brad Hogg believes the franchise can still make it to the finals of IPL 2024 under Gill’s leadership.

Hogg consoles Gujarat Titans fans after Pandya trade

Former Australian spinner and 2007 World Cup winner Brad Hogg recently consoled Gujarat Titans fandom following Hardik Pandya’s return to Mumbai Indians. Hogg stated that there is no need for Titans fans to feel betrayed, as Pandya has already done a great job for them during his two-year stay at the franchise.

The cricket expert added that Gujarat Titans might even reach another final next year under their newly-appointed skipper.

Taking to his Instagram account, he said:

“Gujarat Titans fans you might be a bit upset that Hardik Pandya has gone back to the Mumbai Indians. Don't feel betrayed. He has done a good job for you. He has got you to the finals twice as captain and you won one title while he has been at the helm. But there's been some big money exchange for Hardik. I still feel you will be in the finals next year.”

Hardik Pandya started his IPL journey back in 2015 with the Mumbai Indians. Winning the coveted IPL title four times under Rohit Sharma’s leadership in his seven-year stay at the camp, Pandya parted ways with the franchise to join newcomers Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022.

The star Indian all-rounder joined the Titans squadron as their skipper and led them to a historic title triumph in their first appearance itself. The 29-year-old led them to another runners-up campaign the following season, where they fell just short of CSK’s juggernaut in the final ball of the match.
