Harmanpreet Kaur is set to assume her leadership role for the Indian Women's team in their forthcoming home series against England and Australia. Earlier this year, the cricketer was handed a brief ban by the International Cricket Council (ICC), thus restricting her presence at India's Asian Games, held in Hangzhou in September.

On December 1, five days before India's opening T20I fixture against England, the BCCI unveiled a 16-player squad for their three-match series. Moreover, the selection committee also announced another 16-player line-up for India's subsequent one-off Test matches against England and Australia in Mumbai.

Harmanpreet to lead India in gruelling home challenge

The BCCI has announced a 16-player India Women's squad for their upcoming three-match T20I series against England. The matches will see the full-fledged return of captain Harmanpreet Kaur after she sporadically led the 'Women in Blue' at the Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Accompanied by her deputy and fellow senior member Smriti Mandhana, the team features a pantheon of Indian T20I stars, including Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma and this year's Under-19 World Cup-winning skipper Shafali Verma. Here is a look at India's entire 16-player crew for England T20Is:

The BCCI also announced a 16-player group for India's subsequent one-off Test challenges against England and Australian cricket teams. Apart from captain Harmanpreet Kaur and her deputy Smriti Mandhana, several Indian players will be reprising their roles in Tests from the preceding T20Is, like Jemimah Rodrigues, Renuka Thakur, Richa Ghosh, Deepti Sharma and Titas Sadhu.

India's three planned T20Is against England will be staged at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The two sides will then collide for a one-off Test match at Navi Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium until December 17.

An all-format series against the visiting Australian women will follow the English leg of India's home season. Under Harmanpreet, the 'Women in Blue' will commence their Australian challenge with a Test match at Wankhede Stadium before engaging in a three-match ODI series and three additional T20I matches till January.

The BCCI is expected to announce Indian squads for the white-ball games against Australia within the coming weeks.
