'Go and Do Something Away From the Game'- Michael Vaughan Urges Bairstow to Take Break for Ashes Redemption

'Jonny Bairstow is a liability both batting and behind the stumps right now' according to the fans. The English cricketer has been under scrutiny for his wicketkeeping skills, which has drawn criticism from cricket fans and pundits alike. Nevertheless, England managed to beat Australia by three wickets at Headingley, narrowing Australia’s lead in the five-match series to 2-1.

However, when Bairstow entered the crease after the fall of skipper Ben Stokes, with a challenging 90 runs still required for victory, he disappointingly departed after contributing a mere five runs, following his lacklustre score of just 12 in the first innings.

The 33-year-old has become centre of discussion in Ashes 2023 Test, where the Former England captain, Michael Vaughan, has passionately advocated for wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow to temporarily step away from cricket in order to overcome his recent woeful performance with the bat and gloves throughout the first three Tests of the Ashes series.

Vaughan expressed his thoughts on the matter in an interview following the conclusion of the third Test.

Here's What Michael Vaughan said:

"Think the best thing for Jonny is this break. Would advice him to have 2 or 3 days away from Cricket, go and switch off. Go and play golf, wouldn't say Golf because last time he played golf he got injured ( laughs). Go and do something away from the game and then have 4 or 5 days of real hard intensive practice to sharpen up behind the stumps to gather some confidence from his practice."

The English wicketkeeper garnered headlines when he was controversially dismissed by an Alex Carey stumping. Bairstow's recent struggles have left him searching for answers, raising questions about his performance and prompting the need for respite.

With the fourth Test scheduled to start on July 19 at Old Trafford, the Ashes-winning skipper, firmly believes that a well-deserved break could work wonders for Bairstow's revival.
