Jhulan Goswami Praises ICC’s Move

The World Cup excitement is back in the cricket arena as the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 is set to commence this month. As the teams are gearing up ahead of the marquee event, ICC announced a massive prize pool of 13.88 million USD. Not only does this mark a stunning 297% increase from the last edition, but it also surpasses the prize money awarded in the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup.

As women’s cricket is rising in its prime, former Indian bowler Jhulan Goswami shared her excitement. Speaking on the ICC Review, she thanked ICC for the massive revolution.

“I am getting goosebumps. [The increased prize money] is a very good thing. I would like to thank ICC from my side,” she said.

This Move Inspires Women Cricketers And Parents Alike

In India, where cricket is a religion, many parents of aspiring women cricketers still remain uncertain about the sport’s future. But with the ICC’s groundbreaking step, Jhulan Goswami admitted the move will motivate not just the players but also their parents to dream bigger.

“The way they have thought of this, I think definitely women's cricket will get a lot of boost in this. And for [budding women’s cricketers’] parents, too. It is a reassurance that this sport can be played professionally and taken forward. So, I think this is great news for women’s cricket, and I think this will definitely motivate all the players as well,” she added.

As per the announcement, the winner of the tournament will receive a prize money worth 4.48 million USD, and the runners-up will receive 2.24 million USD. As the tournament is set to commence on September 30, fans are excited for some unmissable encounters.
