Ahead of the Sri Lanka tour, newly appointed head coach, Gautam Gambhir and chief selector, Ajit Agarkar attended the pre-tour conference, wherein they answered questions related to the Indian cricket's future.

Both Gambhir and Agarkar talked about numerous topics, which included Suryakumar's captaincy, Kohli-Rohit's future and Jadeja's absence from the SL ODI tour.

Gambhir speaks on equation with Jay Shah

Apart from the on-field topics, Gautam Gambhir also gave his views on his equation with BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah. The head coach opined that he shares a fabulous relationship with Jay Shah, and both have the same objective - to take Indian cricket to new heights.

"I've got a fabulous relationship with him (Jay Shah). We go a long way back and all these speculations about different things, we've been on different pages. I think we can do a better job from probably clarifying those things. It's been a great relationship.

Hopefully, it continues that way because the betterment of indian cricket is more important, Gautam Gamir is not important."

Gambhir's first assignment as the Indian head coach will be the white-ball tour of Sri Lanka, which commences on August 27. The T20Is will take place first, followed by the 3-match ODI series. Following which, the Indian team will play against Bangladesh (2 Tests and 3 T20Is).
