Gujarat Titans all-rounder Washington Sundar gave a cheeky and light-hearted opinion about the Impact Player rule in the IPL. He said that the final verdict should come from the fans as they are the ones to give unbiased opinions.

Impact Player rule, which was added to IPL 2023, enables teams to exchange a player during the game according to match scenarios. Though, it has sparked mixed reactions.

Some experts and players are of the opinion that it introduces excitement and provides a tactical advantage to teams, particularly to bolster batting or bowling. Others opine that it diminishes the role of all-rounders and throws the game in the direction of batters.

Washington Sundar Gives Cheeky Reply On Impact Player Debate

Gujarat Titans all-rounder Washington Sundar, who was listed as an Impact Player for GT in their last match against Rajasthan Royals, wasn’t used during the game. However, the Titans still registered a convincing 58-run win.

When asked to express his opinion about the Impact Player rule, he replied that the audience would be able to judge better as they have unbiased views.

“You really have to ask the audience because I’m part of the team. I don’t think I have any control over changing any of the rules, nor would I even consider doing anything like that. So, the audience will give you better answers and definitely a lot more entertainment," he told TOI.

With his witty remark and candid perspective, Sundar has once again proved that cricket is not all about big shots and wickets, but about being rooted and keeping the crowds at the centre of the sport.

Sundar Lights Up IPL 2025 With Bat

After being snubbed by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous season, Washington Sundar made a statement loud and clear, with his bat. Brought in at No. 4 by Gujarat Titans in a tricky run chase against his old team, Sundar belted 49 off only 29 balls, leaving fans abuzz and SRH red-faced.

From benchwarmer to game-changer, Sundar's IPL 2025 tale is one of redemption and revenge. Fans appreciated his clean strokeplay, lauded his composure under pressure, and mocked SRH for releasing him.
