Riyan Parag, the Rajasthan Royals cricketer from Assam was at the centre of trolls and criticism in the last few IPL seasons due to his poor batting display. Ahead of the 2024 season, there were calls of his removal, but the RR management believed in him and the young man turned it around by becoming the third highest-scorer of the season with 573 runs.

So, with the bat doing the talking, the trolls and criticism have turned into praises from all corner, and there are now calls that he should be included in the Indian team soon. Riyan though is making sure that the new-found success and praise doesn't go into his head and has called out media's hypocrisy in a recent interview.

The right-handed batter told the reporters that the people who are praising him now, are the same people who criticized him earlier and that's why he does not care about what media says and his next goal is to play for the Indian team. He also taunted the reporters by saying that the last time he came to Assam after the IPL, there was no one around and this time everyone has come in to ask questions.

"Those who praise me today once criticized me. So I don't care about these things. My next goal is the Indian cricket team. Last time I went home alone when I returned to Assam. This time you have come to ask questions."

Riyan Parag found success in IPL only in the recent season, but has been one of the most consistent performers in domestic cricket for quite a some time now and we might see him playing for the senior Indian side soon after the T20 World Cup.
