'Do They Actually Want To Win?': Aakash Chopra Questions Australia's Intent In Ongoing Series

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has raised doubts about Australia's commitment and mindset in their ongoing T20I series against India.

Aakash Chopra questions Australia's desire to win

Following Australia's consecutive defeats in the series, with a 44-run loss in Thiruvananthapuram and a close two-wicket defeat in Visakhapatnam, Chopra suggested that the Australian team might be suffering from mental fatigue due to World Cup 2023 victory.

In a video analysis on his YouTube channel, Chopra speculated that Australia's current performance could be attributed to emotional exhaustion post their World Cup win. He hinted that Australia might not be as focused on winning the T20I series, questioning their desire for victory.

"The Australian team needs to buck up but the big question is - Do they actually want to win? Are they here to win? 'What else you here for' - it reminds me of Kapil paaji (Dev). It is being heard that some reinforcements are being sent for Australia. They are slightly emotionally drained after winning the World Cup,” said Chopra.

The erstwhile cricketer also offered strategic advice to Australian player Matthew Short, urging him to set aside any ego and be cautious against Indian bowler Ravi Bishnoi's googly, which is well-anticipated by players and spectators alike.

"I will want to give a suggestion to Matthew Short. Keep your ego aside because Ravi Bishnoi will come and bowl you a googly - you, Ravi Bishnoi, I, our commentary team, the Australian team, the Indian team, and the 25000 spectators in Guwahati know that - so play a little cautiously,” added the renowned commentator.

Furthermore, Chopra highlighted the opportunity for India to secure the series with a win in the upcoming match in Guwahati. He highlighted the significance of the toss in the match, considering the likelihood of dew, which was a factor in Thiruvananthapuram and could play an even more significant role in Guwahati.

"What is there for India here? Firstly it is a chance to win the series. Make it 3-0, destroy the opposing team. I feel the toss will be important here, as was the case in Thiruvananthapuram, because there are chances of even more dew coming in Guwahati than was there in Thiruvananthapuram,” concluded Chopra.
