'I Point The Fingers Towards...': Sanju Samson On Not Being Given Enough Chances

Cricket has been cruel to Sanju Samson. Having made his international debut back in 2015 in the T20Is, Sanju Samson has not been given many opportunities and has not been backed enough. In a recent interview, on being asked about the same, Sanju responds by blaming himself.

The right-handed batter has been in and out of the Indian team and has played for the team in bits and pieces, even when he was a part of the team. He was even part of India's Asia Cup squad as a reserve player but did not get any chance as a few injured players came back into the team.

In the ongoing T20I series between India and Australia, where a bunch of youngsters have been given a chance to showcase their talents, Sanju Samson has been ignored again. Before the World Cup 2023, he was a part of both ODIs and T20Is but could not able to retain his place in the shortest format.

Here's what Sanju Samson said about the setbacks

Sanju shares that these things are not in one's control and keeping your mentality healthy is what he looks for or otherwise it will impact his performance. He further said that any kind of failure or setback he faces, he points fingers at himself asking what happened, what is going wrong or what is he doing wrong, which eventually motivates him to work on himself.

He also shared what he learned from Rahul Dravid, who suggested him to follow cricket with utmost dedication and that whatever the sport needs, life will become easier for you. He emphasized on the importance of a viewpoint and the decisions you make.

Sanju has been leading the Rajasthan Royals team for a while now and has been playing an exceptional brand of cricket. As we inch closer to the new season of the IPL, Sanju will be making this one count as the T20 World Cup is not too far away.
