Hardik Pandya excited to rejoins Mumbai Indians

Despite GT's earlier announcement of retaining Hardik, who captained them to their first IPL victory in 2022, a subsequent trade-off was executed, allowing the all-rounder to rejoin MI. This trade, permissible until December 12, despite the closure of the retention window, marked a notable shift in the dynamics of the league.

In a video posted by the franchise, Hardik expressed his enthusiasm about returning to Mumbai Indians, the team where his professional cricket journey began. He reminisced about his initial association with MI back in 2015 and acknowledged the franchise's role in his development since they first noticed his potential in 2013.

“I am back. Rohit, Bumrah, Surya, Ishan, Polly, Malinga, Chala, Suru Karu Ya! Obviously, the feel of coming back to Mumbai is very special for a lot of reasons: How my cricketing journey started in 2015 with MI. Them noticing me in 2013, you know when I look back and how the whole 10 years in total have panned has been something very special. It has not yet sunk in that, finally, I'm back where my whole cricketing journey started. I have achieved all the possible things. They have been the most important part in my life,” said Hardik.

The 30-year-old's return to MI is not just a professional move but also an emotional homecoming, as he had formed special bonds with team members and the franchise's management over the years.

He mentioned his excitement to reunite with teammates like Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, and Lasith Malinga, and is eager to create new memorable moments with them.

“Special bonds with Akash and the whole family. They have been with me through my thick and thin and it's much more emotional because it feels like I am coming back to my home; I am coming back to my family, where it all started. Paltan, you supported me the first time, and all the memories have a special place in my heart. I know you will back me once again. We created history as a team, and now I am looking forward to create some wonderful moments with the boys once again. Mere Hardik Swagat ke Liye, thank you!" concluded the lanky all-rounder.

It is worth mentioning that Hardik's tenure with Gujarat Titans was marked by impressive leadership, guiding the team to consecutive IPL finals. He was initially picked by GT prior to the 2022 auction from a pool of players available for the new franchises, including GT and Lucknow Super Giants, for a reported fee of ₹15 crore.

Under his captaincy, GT won the title in their debut year and narrowly missed out in a thrilling final against Chennai Super Kings in 2023. His return to Mumbai Indians is greeted with anticipation, as he looks forward to reciprocating the support and love he has always received from the team's fans.
