Former Mumbai India (MI) captain Rohit Sharma played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as a batter for the first time since taking over the franchise's reigns in 2013. Despite MI's awful run under Hardik Pandya's captaincy, Sharma had his best IPL season since 2016, scoring 489 runs at 44.45.

Even though the Indian captain slammed 417 runs with a strike rate of 150, Rohit Sharma was not pleased with his performance with the bat under Pandya's leadership. Addressing the host broadcaster after Mumbai's last game this season, he stated, he stated that "He didn't live up his standards".

"As a batter, I know I didn't live up to the standard. But, after playing for all these years, I know that if I overthink, I won't play well," Rohit said on JioCinema Match Centre Live.

"All I try is to stay in a good mindset, in the right zone, keep practicing, and improve on all the flaws in my game. That's all I kept doing."

As MI's highest run-getter in IPL 2024 summed up a blistering 38-ball 68 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), he talked about MI's failed campaign and took the blame on himself and the whole squad.

"Our season didn't go according to plan. We blame ourselves for this because we made too many mistakes during the season. We lost many games that we should have won, but that's the nature of the IPL. You get a few chances and when those chances come, you must grab them."

As MI has been knocked out of the IPL 2024, the Indian skipper will be among the first players to fly to the USA forT20 World Cup 2024 preparations.
