PBKS's Probable XI For IPL 2024 Match Vs Cummins' SRH [AP]
Punjab Kings (PBKS) will face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their final fixture of the IPL 2024 season at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, on Sunday, May 19.
With PBKS already eliminated from playoff contention and currently placed ninth on the points table with five wins out of thirteen matches, they will be looking to end their campaign on a high note.
Meanwhile, SRH has comfortably qualified for the playoffs, joining Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals as the third team to secure their spot.
Initially captained by Shikhar Dhawan, PBKS saw a leadership change after Dhawan sustained a shoulder injury during their match against SRH on April 9.
Stand-in skipper Sam Curran took over for the next eight matches. For their final fixture, wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma will lead the side against the Orange Army.
In their latest outing, PBKS secured a five-wicket victory against Rajasthan Royals, demonstrating flashes of brilliance despite an overall inconsistent season. Sam Curran delivered an outstanding all-round performance, scoring an unbeaten 63 runs and taking 2 wickets.
However, against Pat Cummins & Co., the Punjab contingent will be without their English players—Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, and Jonny Bairstow—due to national duties. Consequently, Jitesh Sharma will assume the captaincy role in place of Curran.
Atharva Taide is expected to open the batting, filling in for Bairstow, while Rishi Dhawan will replace Curran.
