Talismanic India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter, Virat Kohli recently shared two of the most heartbreaking moments of his legendary career, both occurring in 2016.

In an interview with Jio Cinema, Virat Kohli confessed that the 2016 IPL final defeat and the T20 World Cup semi-final loss to the West Indies in Mumbai 'broke his heart' and Not the 2023 WC!.

Kohli on his two most heartbreaking moments

"I experienced two heartbreaks in 2016. The WT20 came first, followed by the IPL Final. I felt I could win the World T20 as we were in such a strong position, so it took me just a few days to recover,"  Virat Kohli told Jio Cinema.

Kohli was in phenomenal form during the 2016 T20 World Cup held in India, and he carried that momentum into the IPL.

In the 2016 T20 World Cup, despite being the tournament's second-highest run-scorer, Kohli couldn't steer the Indian team to the finals. The Men in Blue were eliminated after a seven-wicket loss to eventual champions West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium.

His exceptional run-scoring ability was unmatched that season, accumulating a record 973 runs with four centuries and seven fifties. Despite his outstanding performance, RCB fell short in the final against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Kohli hasn't won a major trophy since 2013. However, in the ongoing IPL 2024 season, RCB has positioned themselves strongly by winning their last five games.
