Pakistan’s cricketers have always kept the limelight on them, whether they are playing on the field, stirring drama off it or just dropping sensational statements. And this time, it’s spinner Sajid Khan who has found himself smack in the middle of a social media storm.

Sajid Khan’s Outrageous Remark Raises Serious Questions

In a rapid-fire interview with ARY News, Sajid Khan was asked a bunch of casual “what if” questions. Harmless stuff… until it wasn’t. When quizzed on what he would’ve done had cricket not been his calling, Sajid casually replied:

“Main gangster hota” (I would be a gangster).

That statement by Sajid sent shockwaves through fans and viewers alike. It is not every day that an international cricketer admits he would have taken to a life of crime if not for the sport.

From laughter to disbelief, the reaction on social media was as wild as the comment itself. While some brushed it off as a joke, others weren’t so forgiving, calling the statement “irresponsible” and “appalling” for a national-level athlete.

Sajid On Babar Azam And Virat Kohli

Not all his comments were eyebrow-raisers though. When asked about his cricketing peers, Sajid heaped praise on both Babar Azam and Virat Kohli.

He called Babar “the best player in the world” and hailed Kohli as “the best Indian player ever”. While this answer started a debate, the ‘gangster’ comment is what stole all the attention.

Sajid Khan International Career

The Pakistan spinner has been a regular in the Test squad recently and has made heads turn with the ball in hand. In 12 Test matches so far, Sajid has taken 59 wickets at a tidy average of 27.28 and an economy rate of 3.42. He has also got four five-wicket hauls and as many four wicket hauls to his name.

Meanwhile, as cricket fans continue to react, many are questioning why players representing the nation, role models to many, make such statements even in jest. Whether Sajid meant it literally or was just trying to be funny, one thing’s clear: words matter and when you are in the public eye, they matter even more.
