In what is turning out to be one of the biggest curveballs in the domestic circuit, Yashasvi Jaiswal has reportedly sought an NOC from Mumbai and is eyeing a move to Goa for the upcoming domestic season. The news came out of nowhere and while the cricketing world is still trying to make sense of it, former India opener Aakash Chopra has dropped his take on the whole saga.

Aakash Chopra Rubbishes Rumours Around Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Move to Goa For Money

Aakash Chopra, never one to hold back, addressed the news of Yashasvi Jaiswal moving to Goa in a video on his YouTube channel. And he isn’t buying the money angle one bit.

“Yashasvi going is huge news. He wouldn't have gone for money. Professional cricketers get money. I played three years of professional cricket myself. It used to be about money then, but Yashasvi Jaiswal is worth 18 crore (in the IPL), and his name will be there in India's contracted list. In such a scenario, he wouldn't do this for money,” Chopra said.

And he has got a point. Jaiswal is currently swimming in riches after being retained by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping INR 18 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.

He is also a part of BCCI’s central contracts (Grade B). Not to mention, with the kind of form he’s shown in international cricket, a Grade A promotion might just be around the corner. So, moving states for a bigger pay-check? Highly unlikely.

Suryakumar Dragged Into the Mix

What really got tongues wagging, though, was the mention of Suryakumar Yadav in the same report. According to the original news piece, Surya too was contemplating a move away from Mumbai which turned out to be completely fake.

Chopra was quick to slam this as another case of clickbait gone rogue.

"Suryakumar said he would call out the fake news. It's interesting that it happens repeatedly, and it's the serial offenders many times. I am not talking about this particular news. However, why do a clickbait?” Chopra questioned.

It is clear that Chopra’s not thrilled with how casually such unverified reports get thrown into the mix, especially when they involve high-profile names.

What's Cooking With Jaiswal?

As for Jaiswal, his reported switch to Goa has raised eyebrows, especially since he has been a Mumbai loyalist right from the start of his career. From sleeping in tents at Azad Maidan to scoring big runs for the Ranji giants, has been a Mumbai player through and through.

So, what is really behind the move? Whatever the reason, it is big news and it might just change the shape of domestic cricket next season.
