India came into the New Zealand series on the back of a thumping series win against Bangladesh. They were expected to dominate New Zealand as well, but the Kiwis surprised them in Bengaluru by winning the game by eight wickets and now, in the second Test as well, India are on a backfoot after getting bowled out for just 156 in the first innings.

New Zealand scored 259 in their first innings and India ended up giving the lead of 103 and it has been another shambolic batting display by Rohit Sharma and his men. The pitch has help for the spinners, but it is not a rank-turner or an unplayable pitch and Aakash Chopra has also now opened up on India's batting failure in Pune Test.

Aakash Chopra Questions India's Approach In Test Cricket

Aakash Chopra while speaking on Jio Cinema said that it is not a rank-turner. He added that the wicket is almost the same like the Day 1 of the Test where New Zealand scored runs and India have just not batted well. He stated that Indian batters need to trust their defence a bit more, as one cannot attack everytime in Test cricket.

“Hand on heart – this isn’t a rank-turner. The wicket looks almost the same from Day 1, and there isn’t much of a difference. Cracks and roughs haven’t appeared big enough on Day 2.India need to defend more in some parts of the game. You can’t attack every time.”

New Zealand batters are showing good application in the second innings as well with skipper Tom Latham leading from the front.
