In a remarkable achievement, experienced spin-bowling allrounder Mitchell Santner registered the third best individual bowling figures for New Zealand in a Test match against India. The left-arm spinner oozed his class with the ball, dismantling India with a clinical seven-wicket haul in the ongoing second Test at MCA stadium in Pune.

Santner Achieves A Phenomenal Feat In Pune Test

After India resumed their innings from 16 for one, Mitchell Santner drew the first blood of the day for the visitors, dismissing Shubman Gill for 30 runs. He continued his onslaught on the hosts, getting prized scalps of Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan and Ravichandran Ashwin in quick succession.

As Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar tried to consolidate the Indian innings with a valiant stand, Santner came back to haunt the hosts, removing Jadeja at a crucial juncture of the match. He also wrapped up the Indian tail, leaving Sundar stranded on 18 at one end. His magnificent seven-fer helped New Zealand bowl the home side out for 156 runs and secure a vital 103-run first-innings lead.

The left-arm spinner's clinical spell placed him third on the list of New Zealand bowlers with the best bowling figures in an innings against the Indian team.
