India are on the backfoot in the second Test against New Zealand in Pune. They gave away a lead of 103 runs after getting bowled out for just 156 in their first innings and now need some special performance both with the ball and bat in the second innings to win the Test.
Devon Conway and Tom Latham started well in the second innings and built a 36-run stand for the opening wicket. However, Washington Sundar has now removed Conway to bring some respite in the Indian camp. Conway scored 76 in the first innings and also scored runs in the last Test in Bengaluru, so getting his wicket was crucial, and India would be pretty happy to see him going back to the hut early. However, it was a mistake by Devon Conway that helped India get the wicket as he did not take the DRS despite getting an under-edge off his blade.
New Zealand In Control Despite Conway's Loss
It was the 10th over of the innings and Washington Sundar came 'round the wicket. It was a full delivery angling into middle and leg and Conway went for a big sweep shot. He seemed to have miss the ball and it hit the pads. The ball did no turn after pitching and the umpire raised the finger after Indian players appealed. Conway had a chat with his partner Tom Latham, but he himself thought that he has not hit the ball and decided to walk off the field.
However, when the replays rolled in, it showed a spike on the UltraEdge, and the decision would have been overturned had he taken the DRS. New Zealand are still in control though, and India would be looking to bowl out New Zealand as quickly as possible.
