With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 just around the corner, the fans are already excited about the much-anticipated tournament opener between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on March 22 at Chepauk.

Former India and CSK player Harbhajan Singh, who has featured in several high-octane South Indian derby, opined that RCB all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will struggle at Chepauk against Ravindra Jadeja.

Maxwell and Jadeja have a long rivalry on the field, where the latter has enjoyed success against the former, claiming his wicket six times in 11 encounters.

As quoted by India Today, Singh explained that the conditions and track in Chennai suit Jadeja more, handing him a slight edge in the matchup.

'Jadeja will be ahead of Maxwell in Chennai' - Harbhajan Singh

"It is a big task for anyone to just go out there and start hitting those sixes. You have to give yourself time to play in singles and doubles. If you don't play 10 balls here before you start hitting those boundaries, I think you're putting yourself in a danger zone. You can get out any time. So in this particular battle, I think Jadeja will be ahead of Maxwell on that wicket, where it will do a little bit for Jadeja," said Harbhajan.

However, Harbhajan did not fully put Maxwell out of contention, stating that on his day, the 'Big Show' is unstoppable and can overcome any wicket on offer.

"On Maxwell's day, he is unstoppable. But on this wicket, yes, it will be hard for anyone to start hitting sixes from the ball one. But the only person who can do is, is Maxwell. Let's see who win this rivalry," he added.

Winner of the ICC World Cup 2023, Maxwell performed exceedingly well in IPL 2023, scoring 400 runs and five half-centuries in 14 matches.
