There has been constant criticism around Shreyas Iyer, with plenty of people remarking that the KKR skipper is digging his own graveyard lately. After a recent controversy over Ranji Trophy participation in Mumbai, the BCCI removed him and Ishan Kishan for allegedly prioritizing IPL over national duties.

Since then, he has had a torrid time, scoring a single-digit score in his return to Mumbai setup in the Ranji Trophy knockouts. However, on Tuesday, he made a blockbuster return during the second innings of the final between Mumbai and Vidarbha. Yet, his notorious rash shot did not allow him to notch up a well-deserved three-digit score.

Despite all the criticism, Shreyas played in his unique style of playing red-ball cricket. The 29-year-old smashed 10 fours and three sixes in a flamboyant 110-ball 95 before he attacked Aditya Thakare, only to hole out to Aman Mokhade for heartbreak.

Meanwhile, Mumbai have been in the driver’s seat against Vidarbha, taking a significant lead of 488 as of writing. They have reached 369/7, with Musheer Khan top-scoring with a 326-ball 136.
