As the anticipation builds for the upcoming IPL 2024 season, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Faf du Plessis has shed light on the striking similarities he shares with star batter Virat Kohli.

In an exclusive interview with Star Sports, Du Plessis emphasized their mutual dedication to athleticism, rigorous training regimes, and holistic approaches to professional sportsmanship.

"Virat and I are very similar in the way we see the game, how we look at ourselves, and our commitment to being athletic, training hard, being fit, and eating well," Du Plessis remarked, highlighting the bond between him and Kohli.

Du Plessis also hailed Kohli as an inspiration for aspiring cricketers, stressing the importance of fitness for long-term success in the sport.

"He’s amazing, he trains hard, he’s very fit... fitness will definitely play a role," he stated.

Former RCB and Team India bowler Varun Aaron echoed Du Plessis' sentiments, expressing optimism about Kohli’s return to top form for the IPL 2024 season.

"The way Virat is, he’s always hungry for cricket... he’s going to come back with double the hunger," Aaron remarked, reflecting on Kohli's insatiable commitment to excellence.

The RCB legend and former South African cricket star, AB de Villiers, gave fans more reason to be excited about Kohli's impending return to the field by hinting at his impending return.

The lack of cricket action from Kohli since the World Cup 2023 final against Australia in November and his absence from recent matches have raised expectations for his comeback.

Despite withdrawing from the England Test series and subsequent T20Is against Afghanistan, Kohli's potential participation in IPL 2024 remains a subject of immense interest.

RCB is set to kick off the IPL 2024 season against defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the opening match at Chepauk Stadium, Chennai on 22nd March.
