India cricket legend Yuvraj Singh recently spoke about the profound influence the late Bishan Singh Bedi had on his coaching philosophy. Bedi played a crucial role in shaping Yuvraj’s career. Now, as a mentor, Yuvraj is channelling Bedi’s teachings to train young talents in Punjab cricket, including India's rising stars Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma.

Yuvraj has been actively involved in mentoring cricketers from Punjab, with Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma being two standout players under his guidance.

Shubman has become an important member of the Indian team, while Abhishek Sharma made waves with his blistering performance in IPL 2024.

In a recent interview with India Today, Yuvraj revealed how Bedi’s guidance shaped not only his cricketing career but also his life.

"See, all the people I have learned from, whether in cricket or life, I try to implement in my coaching or mentoring. Sir taught me a lot of good things, and I implement them. Cricket has changed a lot... It's been five years since I retired. So you have to adapt to what is in demand today," Yuvraj said.

Yuvraj Singh In Talks With Delhi Capitals For Coaching Role

In addition to his work with Punjab’s young cricketers, Yuvraj is reportedly in discussions with the IPL franchise Delhi Capitals for a potential coaching role. The team is seeking a replacement for Ricky Ponting, who exited as head coach in July.

Despite not having prior coaching experience at the IPL level, the 42-year-old is seen as a potential successor. Delhi Capitals have been chasing their first IPL trophy, with their only final appearance in 2020, where they lost to the Mumbai Indians. Yuvraj’s experience as a World Cup-winning cricketer could bring fresh insights to help the team reach new heights.
